The tower is almost 1000 years old and, even if it is not the highest, it offers one of the most fascinating panoramas of the city. It was built in the XII century by Prendiparte family, at the time one of the most ancient and rich. It is 60 mt high and it has walkways and galleries also outside. Between ‘400 and ‘700, the tower was sold to the archiepiscopal refectory; it was used as seminary and, during the ‘700, as a prison for crimes against religion.
Prendiparte Tower ancient wooden parts have been restored by Renner Italia’s coatings. This company restored for free the sixty meters of wood that clamber the medieval tower, the second highest tower in the city (Torre degli Asinelli is the highest).
“We accepted this exciting challenge. Prendiparte Tower is Bologna’s architectural and historical heritage. In my opinion, from the Tower it is possible to enjoy the best view of the city; you can see the two most known tower (Asinelli and Garisenda), San Petronio Basilica, Madonna di San Luca Sanctuary, the hills…” – declared Renner Italia managing director Lindo Aldrovandi.
Renner Italia decided to take on responsibility the refurbishment also following its own Ethical Code; that is the commitment in preserving the surrounding beauty.
In 2014, the company took care also of the restoration works of San Leonardo theatre in Bologna.
“Prendiparte Tower belongs to a private citizen, but it is evident that a so wonderful proof of the medieval Italy must be conceived as a common good.” – Aldrovandi explained.
Matteo Giovanardi, the Tower owner, transformed the tower in an exclusive B&B.
In 2014, Lonely Planet travel guide nominated the romantic B&B inside Prendiparte Tower the third most beautiful hotel in the world.
The same technician team that worked on the Tree of Life project, prepared everything for the Prendiparte restoration.
Luigi Benni, laboratory director, and Roberto Carrelli, researcher, are the leaders of this team, while Fabian Colombari coordinated the applicator coating team.
